LONDON, 1 DECEMBER 2021

The luxurious pure-electric Battista continues to impress with Automobili Pininfarina’s first production car winning ‘Hyper GT of the Year’ at the 2021 TopGear.com awards. The winners of the annual awards were chosen by the titles’ expert panel of writers, with judges praising the Battista for its breathtaking design and thrilling performance.

The Top Gear award is the latest in a succession of wins, after the Battista took home the prestigious Design Award at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in October. A unique specification of the production-ready hyper GT debuted at the exclusive event on the shores of Lake Como, Italy, finished in exquisite Verde Paradiso paintwork with a tan leather interior.

Jack Rix, editor of Top Gear magazine, said: “The Battista is a triumph given what it set out to achieve. It’s beautiful inside and out, and violently fast. Mark my words, you will never get used to the Battista’s club-round-the-head acceleration, because the human body is simply not equipped to. At this stratospheric performance level it’s all about conjuring up an experience that lodges in your brain and gets the adrenaline flowing. And it is impossible to drive this car and not be mesmerised.”

Per Svantesson, Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Pininfarina, added: “The Automobili Pininfarina family is honoured that the Battista has been named ‘Hyper GT of the Year,’ by Top Gear. It’s an award that captures exactly what the Battista is about: the very pinnacle of sustainable luxury and electrified performance combined with sensational design.

“We are now ready to begin handcrafting customer cars at the Battista Atelier in Cambiano, Italy. Every Battista will be bespoke to the taste of its owner, yet each will offer the sublime blend of exquisite design and incredible performance that are now recognised by the BBC Top Gear team. This award is a perfect reward for the team that has worked so hard to bring Battista to life.”

No more than 150 Battistas will be hand-built – including five super-exclusive Battista Anniversario models – in Cambiano, Italy. With 1,900 hp and 2,360 Nm torque, the luxurious Battista recently made its production-ready debut in the US and Europe, with clients overwhelmed by the performance of the new hyper GT at a small series of test events in subsequent weeks.

Automobili Pininfarina also recently revealed the new Battista Tourbillon timepiece, crafted by BOVET 1822. Perfectly complementing the Battista hyper GT, the timepiece is beautifully designed and delicately crafted, passionately created by two brands focused on sustainable futures.

The Battista’s 120 kWh battery provides power to four electric motors – one at each wheel – with a combined WLTP range of up to 476 km (296 miles), US EPA combined: 300 miles on a single charge.
