Electrification creates an entirely new dimension and opportunity for audio tuning throughout Battista, plus unique challenges to ensure the system delivers the signature Naim sound: an authentic experience that brings you closer to the music you love. Naim has applied its extensive expertise to enhance the in-car sound performance through a combination of design, engineering and technologically advanced materials, including rare and precious Beryllium.
A material renowned for its rigidity - far exceeding Titanium or Aluminium - Beryllium can extend the frequency response and improve the perception of micro acoustic details. To maximise its potential, Naim has once again called on the savoir-faire of its sister brand, Focal; the French acoustic specialist has pioneered the use of Beryllium in its highly acclaimed loudspeaker and headphone ranges.
The advantage of using a pure Beryllium inverted dome is its ability to cover more than five octaves (1000Hz – 40kHz). Extending the frequency response to beyond the range of the human ear improves the perception of micro details. As well, the linearity of the speaker’s response curve is mainly a function of three opposite parameters: lightness, rigidity and damping. To this day, the only material that permits a joining of these parameters is Beryllium, offering a near-perfect sound.
Automobili Pininfarina’s engineers and designers have seamlessly integrated new Naim Audio speakers and associated electronics into the luxurious interior of Battista, enhancing the Italian hypercar’s elegant ambience with a purity of purpose that matches its magnificent exterior design. With the expertise of Focal, who optimised all speakers for their unique environment, Naim Audio masters have tuned the hypercar’s amplification and built-in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) system to deliver exceptional in-car audio, with a truly immersive listening experience.
The newly developed Battista audio system delivers an incredible 1300 Watt of sonic power through 10 speakers arranged inside the exquisitely appointed cabin of Automobili Pininfarina’s first pure-electric car. The new system features a Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer located between driver and passenger seats, with super-tweeters amplifying higher frequencies situated behind the seats and in the panels of Battista’s dramatic butterfly doors.
Tuning is optimised for both driver and passenger: a symmetrical speaker layout creates an auditorium-like studio effect, with a realism and ambience that will make it seem as if musicians are playing inside Battista itself. Owners experience a completely new dimension of sound, where unwanted noise is cancelled and the focus is on the pure pleasure of driving the Battista. Precise locations, directions, the way of integrating the speakers in the interior vehicle design - all have gone through several testing iterations aimed at maximizing the acoustic performance and delivering the purest experience of music, as close as possible to the original live source.
