Pininfarina Battista German Debut in May set to Electrify Berlin at Greentech Festival

(Geneva / Munich, 11th March 2019): Automobili Pininfarina has confirmed a May launch in Germany for its revolutionary Battista pure-electric hyper GT, following a landmark premiere at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.

Michael Perschke, CEO at Munich-based Automobili Pininfarina, said: “Battista represents a beautiful dream for us all. In just 12 months we have set up an amazing new luxury car brand that has brought together an enviable group of world-class German motorsport and high-performance car experts. We are now working tirelessly to ensure our hypercar is the car that makes the world fall in love with electric power, and we look forward to presenting the Battista in Berlin.”

Nick Heidfeld, Automobili Pininfarina’s Development Driver, Christian Jung, Chief Technical Officer, and Peter Tutzer, Senior Technical Advisor, were joined in Geneva by the newest high-profile recruit to Battista’s engineering team, Rene Wollmann, Director Sportscars.

In celebration of the spotlight the Battista shines on automotive performance and sustainability, its launch was shared by Nico Rosberg in his role with the Berlin-based GreenTech Festival, alongside a core German team of motorsport and performance-car experts at Automobili Pininfarina.

When the Battista hits the road in late 2020, it will set new performance landmarks for a street-legal car and forms the core of Automobili Pininfarina’s sustainable automotive strategy that will be strengthened at Rosberg’s GreenTech Festival in Berlin in May where the Battista will make its German debut.

Automobili Pininfarina has been invited to host the Battista’s German launch at the 2019 GreenTech Festival and celebrate a mutual ambition between the two organisations to promote the rapid development of green technologies, accelerate a positive change in car ownership and excite people about electric motoring.

Automobili Pininfarina will be joined at its German debut by specialist retail partners located in Dusseldorf (Gottfried Schultz Premium GmbH) and Stuttgart (Doerr Group GmbH), and representation from the team of 50 at the Automobili Pininfarina headquarters in Munich.

Automobili Pininfarina and partners re-define the electric car brand

The Battista encompasses a vision of beauty and sustainability, delivering 1,900 hp and zero emissions in classic Pininfarina style where form and function are elegantly combined.

The powertrain of the future is housed in a beautiful carbon fibre body with a full carbon chassis featuring double wishbone coil over suspension. The Battista will shatter traditional performance targets set by machinery powered by an internal combustion engine, yet will do this with a focus on luxury and drivability that offers a targeted 450-kilometre range and a level of comfort and connectivity that will tempt owners to take to the roads more than the track.

In redefining electric vehicle dynamics in a Pininfarina-badged car, the Battista has the distinct potential to become an instant collector’s item, particularly as no more than 150 will ever be built, all delivered to their owners through a global network of the world’s most respected luxury and performance car retailers.

Mahindra has quickly built up experience of cutting-edge ‘race-to-road’ sustainable high-performance technological innovation having competed in every Formula E race since the world’s most innovative motorracing series began in 2013.

AutomobiliPininfarinawill combine this ‘in-house’ expertise in partnership with some of the world’s leading automotive design and engineering suppliers to support its aggressive targets for performance and market launch in late 2020.
